Today is a very important day in my Sydney FC life. The club, my coach and my team mates have decided to honour me with captain's armband for the forthcoming season.
I already wore it as "owner of the house" in Italy during the summer tour, but this time it's an official position and I'm really proud to wear it. I would like to thank everybody for having such high esteem of myself, but in particular the previous captain Terry Mcflynn whom is a real symbol for this club.
It is particularly significant the location chosen for the announcement that will took place this morning (Australian time) in Sydney, at the splendid Opera House, the press conference with president Scott Barlow and my coach Frank Farina. I can see no better way to start new season.
I consider this armband to bring with it a huge responsibility, and I'll give my best, together with all the team to get the best results in A-League to repay our supporters. After 11 years at Juventus, one day before the 20th anniversary of my first goal in the black and white jersey, I start my new season as the captain....i just can't wait to start playing again!
